The 2013 VGX, which is an annual award show hosted by Spike TV was held on 7th December at 6 p.m. EDT.
The three-hour long show kept all the promises which were made regarding several worldwide unveils and some of the exclusive and interesting information about some of the franchises that people love and know about. Adding on to it, there were lot of surprises and few points of light in the show.
The show was different from the last year’s show which emphasized celebrities over content, as this time Casey Patterson, who is the Viacom Entertainment Group event production head said in a statement that he understands this concern, and made clear that event organizers are “stripping away anything that takes time away from world premieres and interviews with the community of game developers that the fans want to hear from.”
This year’s VGX publicized more world-premiers as compared to any show in the past. Few points of highlight in the show include No Man’s Sky, the most surprising, fascinating game showcased at VGX this year was an indie space exploration sim called No Man’s Sky.
The other high light point was The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt, which is one of the top 5 most anticipated games of 2014, and the new trailer of the game gave viewers yet another brief glimpse into the game’s story and immense open-world.
“Reggie” Fils-Aime, the President and chief operating officer of Nintendo of America was also present at the show to talk about Donkey Kong Country: Tropical Freeze, which according to him, is expected to hit shelves around February 21st.
