Brazil once again showed its football skills as it defeated the United States, 2-0 in a game held earlier at the New Meadowlands Stadium at East Rutherford, N.J. . Brazil delivered the loss to team USA in the middle of more than 77,000 spectators.
The Brazil goals were delivered by Neymar (Andre Santos) on the 29th minute and by Pato (Ramires) on 45+1. The USA could have made a goal except that it was called back due to a violation. USA Kljestan bent a cross into the penalty area after receiving a short corner kick from Donovan.
An all star and experienced team was presented by the USA as they start all nine players with the nine World Cup 2010 stars, in contrast Brazil only field in four and then pitch in newbies and young blood from their team.
The results and contrast shows how strong the Brazilian team where and what are the improvements still needed by the USA National Team. Brazil also bring in a new coach, Mano Menezes.
“We were able to reestablish ourselves in the second half but I would still say it shows that defending against the best teams in World Cup or teams like Brazil is just something we need to work on. To be able to play in these kinds of games where you can be dangerous with the ball, move it quickly, create chances and still defend, that’s what we’re always shooting for,” says USA head coach Bob Bradley.
Just before the USA vs Brazil International Friendly match, the 2010 National Soccer Hall of Fame inductees were honored. The inductees includes Bruce Arena, Thomas Dooley, Predag “Preki” Radosavljevic and Kyle Rote Jr.
