Free access to the Square Enix MMO FFXIV has been extended by a week as many gamers were unable to login to the title following an extended period of server problems that have plagued the game since its launch.
The game is the fourteenth installment in the series of the Final Fantasy, developed and Published by Square Enix. It is available in Four Languages: Japanese, English, French and German.
It takes place in a fictional Land of Eorzea. The player has to purchase the subscription from Square Enix Account Management System first, before he can play the game.
According to Lodestone update, a lengthy 10 hours of maintenance was scheduled on September 3rd, beginning at 5 pm. In addition to this, a seven free days of playtime will be granted to existing and future players.
The problem aroused due to unregistered users. The game has had quite a good start and hence Square Enix added seven more days to the free trial of the seven days thereby giving 14 days to play the game for free.
Yoshida wrote that the response to the game has no doubt exceeded their expectations but has also resulted in their inability to provide the services that they originally intended.
He further asks the players to be patient while they resolve the problem. He said that the game servers will be monitored, in order to ensure the quality of the server’s operation, and the ability to provide players with timely assistance
