The Barclays, first of the four events under the 2013 FedEx Cup Playoffs, finally ended on August 25th with Adam Scott as the winner.
Adam Scott, Masters Tournament Champion who hails from Australia, shot a 5-under-par 66 in the final round and won $1.44 million.
Scott won by one shot over the other four golfers- Justin Rose, Tiger Woods, Graham DeLaet and Garry Woodland. Justin Rose, the U.S Open Champion from England, tied for second place at 10-under with Tiger Woods, Graham DeLaet and Garry Woodland.
When Scott started the day, he was six shots behind the leaders of the third round, Garry Woodland and Matt Kucher. He wasn’t sure whether finishing at 11-under par would be enough to win the tournament.
Having no bogeys was his biggest advantage, Scott said. He further added that he took advantage of some good shots and scrambled the poor ones he had.
Scott dedicated his win and 21st worldwide triumph to some special persons in his life which includes his niece Olivia who was born on Sunday, his sister, and his brother-in-law and last but not the least his coach Brad Malone. With this win Scott has moved to number two in FedEx Cup standings with Woods at the top.
According to Woods, he was playing fine and was feeling great until the tee shot at 12. He just couldn’t finish off the rest of the day.
The Barclays Championship 2014 will be held at Ridgewood Country Club in Paramus, New Jersey.
