Sony confirmed that the Xperia Z1 which was launched recently will be among the devices that will get the Android 4.4 Kitkat update.
Recently red colored Xperia Z1 images were leaked which shows it clearly running on Android 4.4.2. Android 4.4.2 has never been discussed, and all the talks of KitKat are related to the 4.4 version which was recently launched by Google. It is astonishing to know that Sony would have access to a new Android version while even Nexus devices don’t have it.
Originally the phone was launched in three colors which are black, white and purple and is available for $649 unlocked. According to the reports, the leaked images show the handset in dark red and they look authentic.
Z1 comes with 5-inch screen with 1080p display with 3000mAh battery. It is dust and water resistant and comes with 20.7MP camera with Bionz image processor engine.
The Sony Xperia Z1 comes bundled with the custom user interface by Sony which has been layered on top of Android OS 4.2.2 JellyBean. The phone comes with an internal storage of 16GB which can be extended up to 64GB by using an external microSD card.
The Xperia Z1 carries the powerful Snapdragon 800 quad-core processor under the hood, which is clocked at 2.2 GHz.
It is expected that the smartphone will be getting the 4.4 KitKat update somewhere in the first quarter of 2014.
The company has released lot of smartphones in variety of colors and it is quite possible to see a red version of the Sony Xperia Z1 soon. However, the company has not commented about the red version of the handset that was leaked.
