Smart phone giant Sony has unveiled its Sony Xperia Z1 Compact smart phone which has now been made available to pre-order at Carphone Warehouse.

The handset was announced by Sony at CES 2014 this year and is a smaller version of the company’s flagship Z1.

One can pre-order the handset from Carphone Warehouse on deals from £27 per month. It is also known that if someone orders the smart phone now, the person can expect it to be delivered at the end of January.

The cheapest tariff with the phone free is £27 a month, 300 minutes included, unlimited texts and 500MB of data.

Pre-orders are now open for the device and a SIM free handset will set you back £449 directly from Sony’s web store.

The handset was announced at CES 2014 earlier this week and has very similar specifications to the Sony Xperia Z1. The Compact comes with a smaller 4.3-inch display meaning a smaller resolution of 1280 x 720 pixels but everything else stays the same.

The smart phone is powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 having a clock speed of 2.2 GHz with 2 GB of RAM and 16 GB of storage and also has the water and dust resistant technology. The Sony Xperia Z1 Compact is rolled out with a 20.7MP camera.

The camera has an f/2.0 aperture, 1/2.3” camera sensor and 27mm focal length. The handset sports specifications that bear resemblance to the Xperia Z1 flagship aside from a smaller 720p display and a smaller, slightly lower-rated battery pack.

The screen is a 4.3-inch TFT using Sony’s X-Reality Engine and Triluminos display technology. The 1280×720 pixel HD resolution clocks in at around 341 pixels-per-inch (ppi). Meanwhile the battery is rated at 2,300mAh.

The phone runs Android 4.3 Jelly Bean with Sony’s own UI on top and it shares the same interesting feature introduced by the Xperia Z1 that being the ability to stream video footage to your Facebook wall.
