The Android 4.4 KitKat is out and Google is aiming to bring a better Android experience to the masses with it as it includes features like less memory consumption on low memory (512 MB) and low-cost devices.
Currently, Android 4.4 KitKat is running on 1.1 percent of all active Android Smartphones. The adoption of KitKat can be expected to be much faster than other versions of Android as it has been developed to run on devices with 512 MB of RAM.
Apart from the Nexus range of Smartphones and tablets, only Galaxy S4, Moto X and One Smartphones have received Android 4.4 KitKat update.
Recently, Sony also announced to bring Android 4.4 KitKat update to Xperia Z, Xperia ZL, Xperia tablet Z, Xperia Z Ultra and Xperia Z1 Smartphones as well.
Samsung mid-range users will be delighted to know that the company is considering the Android 4.4 KitKat update for some of its Smartphones.
According to a leaked image, the list of devices which may receive the update is long and includes Galaxy S4 Mini, Galaxy S3 Mini, Galaxy S Advance, Galaxy Ace 3, Galaxy Core, Galaxy Fame, Galaxy Ace 2 and the Galaxy Fresh.
The Smartphones listed may get the update but it depends on the compatibility, thoughS4 Galaxy S4 Mini is one device that is most likely to receive the update.
Also, the devices which have been in the market for more than 18 months, and devices like Galaxy Note and Galaxy S2 which have already received two major updates won’t be getting Android 4.4 update because of the 18- month support policy which manufactures follow.
