PS4 vs Xbox One: Sony manages to sell PS4 more than Microsoft does Xbox One

The Sony PS4 vs the Microsoft Xbox One is being considered as the biggest consoled war billed in history, and albeit it is still in early days, it looks like the PS4 has a big lead.

The Entertainment Retail Association (ERA) has reported that the PS4 has sold 166,000 more units that the Xbox One in the United Kingdom.

It is reported that the total PS4 units sold unit the UK account to 530,000 as compared to the 364,000 units of Xbox One sold.

A major factor that is causing this discrepancy in sale is that the Xbox One is price £80 higher than the PS4 and people are favoring it.

Unsurprisingly and undoubtedly, the Grand Theft Auto V was the bestselling game of 2013 and sold 3.67 million copies.

Both the consoles were launched just before the Christmas break, which was considered too late to save the physical games market, which fell down by 2.9 per cent as compared to 2012. But overall the sales of game in UK went up by 6.6 percent in 2013.

Legal streaming services like iTunes, Netflix and Lovefilm helped digital music, video and game sales to grow by good margins. The digital video sales grew a whopping 40.2 per cent.

Music streaming grew by 33.7 per cent and was helped by the likes of Spotify and Deezer. And game downloads also increased by 16.4 per cent. Sales of Blu-Ray went up by 10 percent while vinyl sales also grew by an astonishing 101 percent.

Overall the UK video, music and games market went up by 4 per cent as compared to 2012.
