New iPhone 5C rumors, release date, price, specs, and features

The iPhone 5C, Apple’s rumored low-cost smartphone which was leaked last week after months of speculation, is expected to launch this fall, and although Apple has yet to confirm the device, the leaks just keep coming.

According to reports, iPhone 5C is a mix of design elements from a few different iOS devices, namely the iPhone 5?s dimensions, the iPod Classic’s rounded edges, and the iPod touch’s plastic exterior.

The phone will feature a $300-400 price point, retina display, 8 megapixel camera, 4-inch screen and hard shell plastic body.

A cheap device is not Apple’s standard approach for hardware, whether for MP3 players, computers, peripherals, tablets, or smartphones.

In addition, Apple’s premium strategy means it takes most of the industry profits for both mobile devices and PCs. But many analysts say Apple needs more market share to not get shut out by the very popular Android, so it requires a cheaper device.

Leaked videos of the phone showed that the back cover is clearly plastic, and the device shown looks to be about the same size as the iPhone 5. While the video also showed the front of the device, which is not earth-shatteringly revealing, one can get an idea of what the iPhone 5C would look like with a dual color scheme – white rear casing and black front bezel.

Apple is expected to release the iPhone 5S, the next generation iPhone, along with the low-cost iPhone or iPhone 5C in fall with iOS 7. The iPhone 5C could be a game-changer for Apple in the smartphone market.
