Microsoft Pulled Their Plug to Kin: Now Focusing on Windows Phone 7 – After its vast advertisement about their latest smartphone Kin, Microsoft now pulled their plug unto it because they will be focusing on their Windows Phone 7.
“Microsoft has made the decision to focus on the Windows Phone 7 launch and will not ship KIN in Europe this fall as planned,” said a written statement from a Microsoft spokesman. CNN
They will be merging the team comprising the Kin to the team of Phone 7. In this way, they would be able to incorporate valuable ideas and technologies from KIN into future Windows Phone releases. Kin would continuously be released through Verizon in the U.S. In fact, Verizon has slashed the price of the phone. Lower-end Kin One to $29 and the Kin Two from $99 to $49.
Sales has been good for the Kin though and it has not made even with rival Apple and Google. Since Microsoft still dominates the PC industry, putting their operating system in their phones would be much exciting and would give them much advantage.
Microsoft’s series of phones for the Windows 7 operating systems is expected out by this year’s holiday season. Phones running the system will be made by companies like Qualcomm, Samsung, LG, HTC, HP, Dell, Sony Ericsson Toshiba, and Garmin-Asus. This is according to Microsoft.
