iPhone 5 iOS 6.1.4 Untethered Jailbreak Update – Team Evasi0n will wait for iOS 7

When the iOS 6.1.3 update came out earlier this year, despite of being a very minor update, it left the Evasi0n untethered iPhone 5 jailbreak useless. It was also useless for all the models below the iPhone 5.

iOS 6 was a major update and introduced over 200 new features and also provided the users with a new interface. Since its release there have been a series of fixes and tweaks. The latest update by Apple is the iOS 6.1.4 which is an update to the speaker profile. There have also been a few security improvements. However, as soon as you install this update, you won’t be able to jailbreak your iPhone 5.

Teams of hackers and developers managed to jailbreak the iOS 6 but kept their exploits wrapped up. According to a guy from teak Evasi0n, they didn’t reveal some major bugs and did not release an iOS 6.1.3 jailbreak as it was a very minor update and they had face tough challenges while cracking the iPhone 5. As it is expected that Apple is soon going to release the iOS 7, so the iPhone 5 owners would have to be patient for a while.

It is expected that Apple will reveal the iOS 7 at WWDC next month but it would also depend on Apple’s decision to reveal new hardware as well. There could be further security issues which would require another wee update.

It’s a good job that teams like Evasi0n did not reveal their exploits after the release of iOS 6.1.3 else it would have been fixed in the 6.1.4 update.

If you want to jailbreak your phone, you would have to wait till the launch of iOS 7. Because it seems Team Evasi0n is also waiting for it.
