IAEA demanded that Iran to stop their uranium enrichment site project

The agency’s governing body of the UN nuclear watchdog passed a resolution condemning Iran for developing a uranium enrichment site in secret. The International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) also demanded that Iran freeze the project immediately.

The resolution, first against Iran in nearly four years, was passed by a margin of 25.3 with six abstentions.

But Iranian Foreign Ministry rejected the resolution, calling its theatrical and unnecessary step.

Iran says its nuclear program is for peaceful energy purposes but the U.S. says it is seeking nuclear weapons.

In September, it became clear that, as its uranium enrichment facility in Natanz, Iran had a second such facility near the city of Qom.
