There has been no official word from HTC about the One 2 as of now, but it is highly likely that the successor of the highly successful smartphone is on its way.
A UK patent judge revealed after a patent dispute with Nokia, that the company would be launching a new device in February or March 2014. Let’s look at some of the rumors and speculations about the device.
As the previous flagship was known simply as the ‘One’, it’s an easy guess as to what the name of its successor would be. The device has an alleged codename M8 and it is quite unlikely that this would be the marketing name of the device. The phone could simply be called as the HTC Two.
Most probably HTC will not fiddle much with the design as it was design of the HTC One that received global appreciation and made the Samsung S4 look like a plastic toy.
It is certain that the company would continue to use the unibody aluminum construction with minor changes in the design. The phone could come in a variety of color variants as HTC traditionally launches the new device with two colors, and then provides other options with time.
The HTC One was one of the first smartphones to feature a Full HD display so it is certain that HTC won’t take a backward step with its successor. And it is almost definite that HTC will stick with the Super LCD panel instead of switching to OLED.
It is predicted that the device will be powered by a Qualcomm Snapdragon 800 SoC and would have 2GB of RAM. HTC had introduced biometric security with the HTC One Max and it is highly likely that it will add a fingerprint scanner in the HTC One 2 as well.
The HTC One was released in February 2013 so it is predicted that the successor would make its way around the same time.
