Honda Odyssey minivan safety rating

The Honda Odyssey is one of the most popular models built by the Japanese automaker. The model has managed to achieve a top safety rating and has become the first minivan to pass the most rigorous crash tests monitored by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety.

Such minivans are used by the consumers to transport their children and getting the first rank in this field has fulfilled the purpose that the minivan was designed to achieve.

After the minivan received a good rating in a series of crash tests including a small overlap front crash test, it was designated as the top safety pick by IIHS.

The front crash test checks the vehicle’s capability to protect the passengers if a part of the front bumper hits another vehicle.

The model has a new steel body or is modified with high strength steel that cuts weight. It was due to these reasons that the minivan performed good in the tests.

According to the institute, the Odyssey has a well maintained driver’s space which led to minimum injuries. The structure helped in keeping the steering column stable and the front airbag stayed in front of the driver during the crash and hence provided a good protection.

Automobiles accidents remain a major cause of injury and death in the U.S and through the front crash tests the Institute is trying to encourage other car makers to include sufficient safety measures in the upcoming models.

Other than this, Honda is looking forward to launch a new advertising campaign for the minivan with the tagline “Start something special”.
