In a statement made to one of the leading newspaper The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration have said that model starting from year 2011 till 2013 are involved in its preliminary evaluation of what NHTSA has given it a name of “sunroof Implosion.”
In a report the agency has said that that in 13 of the cases, the glass shattered when the vehicle was moving. Though no accidents have been linked to the alleged defect, but one driver reported an injury from the glass.
After the investigation is complete, the results of the investigation can lead to recalls, or the NHTSA can dead-end without action if in case no defect is found after examining the automaker’s data and specifications.
An engineering analysis can be open up as the next step if NHTSA suspects there could be a defect, which further will involve the car company to provide more detailed information about the defect.
