Steve McPherson, ABC’s head of entertainment programming and production stepped down from his position according to a source Wednesday. Just after the company has conducted their own internal sexual harassment investigation against him. They are not denying the allegations and this issue just came out after his resignation.
As what has posted in Reuters News, McPherson’s attorney, Tom Hoberman, issued the following statement to The Hollywood Reporter:
“Upon Steve McPherson returning to work from his vacation on Monday, he made a voluntary decision to resign and ABC accepted his resignation. It is not uncommon for high level executives to be the subject of gossip and innuendo. That would include rumors of internal situations which can easily be misinterpreted or misrepresented. Seems like it goes with the territory, and there is nothing further to discuss.”
There has been multiple complaints filed against McPherson involving several women, including some executives and on-air talent.
McPherson has been running the entertainment department for the past six years as well as its sister studio since last year. He’s been credited by ABC as being “…the driving force behind the network’s primetime comeback,” who has been part of several of its successful shows such as Lost, Desperate Housewives, Grey’s Anatomy, Ugly Betty, Dancing with the Stars, and Extreme Makeover: Home Edition.
