Following PS3 and Xbox 360 edition, Minecraft will also come to Xbox One, PS4, and PS Vita

Minecraft’s, which is a successful sandbox indie game, launched the PS3 version of the game on 17 December, 2013 on PlayStation Network in North America, one of the leading newspaper confirmed.

4J Studios was the company which was responsible for Minecraft: Xbox 360 Edition, which was released in May 2012 and recently passed the milestone of 10 million copies sold, and still the port is being handled by the same company.

The latest version of the game in the launch includes all the content that exists in the Xbox 360 Edition, and as per the statement made by Mojang, all console versions will be developed together from this point forward.

The company has not revealed details about the upcoming versions, whether the latest launch of the game will include Minecraft: PlayStation 4 Edition and Minecraft: PS Vita Edition, which according to reports are still in development phase and are expected to be released sometime in 2014.

Sony announced the PS4, PS3 and PS Vita ports of Minecraft at Gamescom 2013 and all three versions as well the upcoming versions are being developed and handled by 4J studios.

According to Owen Hill, the studio’s chief word officer, Mojang, at this point is not sure whether the PS3 Edition will support Remote Play, or if it will feature any compatibility with the PS4 or PS Vita versions.

Soon, the Downloadable skins and texture packs, including PlayStation-specific ones, will be available for the PS3 Edition. Mojang has not revealed the price of the PS3 Edition, but the Xbox 360 Edition costs $19.99.
