Carlos Slim giving gifts to players after Leon defeated Club Ameria

Leon defeated Club America 2-0 but it was a double win situation for Leon’s players as they were gifted presents by Carlos Slim. Slim, the World’s second richest man has a 30 percent stake in Pachuca and Leon which he bought back in August 2012 through his company American Movil.

After leon’s 2-0 win over Club America, Slim went to the Leon’s locker room and presented the players with iPads and iPhones.

The Mexican investor and philanthropist has been the world’s richest person from 2010 to 2013. The 73-year old telecommunications Entrepreneur was present during his side’s 2-0 win over Club America after which he went to the locker room to present his players with gifts.

Leon’s midfielder Carlos Pena said that Slim congratulated the team for the campaign and also brought gifts for the team. Slim also advised his players not to lose focus before the final game.

In the postgame press conference Leon’s coach Gustavo Matosas said that Carlos visit was very inspirational for the team and it brought them a lot of pride. He added that he is one of members of the team.

Slim is the chairman and chief executive of telecommunications Telmex and American Movil. American Movil was Latin America’s largest mobile-phone carrier in 2010 and accounted for around US$ 49 billion of Slim’s wealth by the end of that year. His corporate holdings have been estimated at US$ 71.2 billion as of December 2013.
