For the first time ever since 2005, energy mogul Boone Pickens fell from the “Forbes 400 Definitive List of Richest Americans.”
Pickens was once established as a billionaire; but now Pickens has fallen off the list and was supposed to be an ungenerous millionaire. The eighty-four year old Oklahoma native is now estimated to have a net worth of $950 million. By acquiring more than a few energy companies as well as forming BP Capital Fund in 1997, Pickens made his fortune in the 80s.
Energy magnate T. Boone Pickens once challenged rapper Drake to imagine how hard it is to make your fist $1 billion. Now, according to Forbes, he also knows how it feels to lose it.
He’s graces the list with 33 other individuals including, 5-Hour Energy drink creator Manoj Bhargava and Washington Redskins owner Dan Snyder.
This isn’t to say that Pickens is poor. Though he told MSNBC he “lost his ass” in the wind energy business, Forbes estimates that Pickens is still worth $950 million.
That obviously doesn’t mean that Pickens is poor, however he has said in a statement to a leading newspaper that he “lost his ass” in the wind energy business, but Forbes on the other hand estimates that Pickens is still worth $950 million.
Most recently he’s been a vocal advocate for American energy Independence. Other Oklahomans who made the list of richest Americans include: George Kaiser, Lynn Schusterman, David Green, and Tom and Judy Love. A total of 34 people were reported to have fallen off the list due to death or bad luck in the markets.
