Finally, its happy news for the Apple fans in India. After a month long wait Apple has announced the release dates of iPad Air and iPad mini with Retina display for the Indian market. December 7th is the date when the two tablets hit the Indian stores.
The 16GB storage variant of iPad mini with Retina display with Wi-Fi capability has been priced at 28,900 INR and the corresponding iPad Air model has been priced at 35,900 INR.
For the time being, Apple has not announced the prices of the 32GB, 64GB and 128GB storage variants and neither of the 4G-enabled models of both the tabs.
The new iPad Air is 20% thinner, 28% lighter and has 43% smaller bezels as compared to the iPad 4. The tablet sports a 9.7 inch Retina display and is very similar to the iPad mini but with a bigger screen.
The iPad Air is only 7.5mm thick and as the name suggests, weighs only 1 pound. It is claimed by Apple that this is the thinnest full-fledged tablet in the market.
Apple had introduced the 64-bit A7 chip and the M7 motion co-processor with the launch of the iPhone 5s, and the iPad Air has the same configuration. Rendering of graphics is twice as fast as in the fourth generation iPad and that too without compromising on battery backup.
Even the new iPad mini Retina has twice the screen resolution than the previous generation iPad mini and is 2048 x 1536 pixels in the same 7.9 inch display. It also runs the 64-bit A7 chip which is a major upgrade from the previous A5 chip.
Apple had recently recorded record breaking sales in India with its iPhone 5S and it plans to do the same with the iPad Air and iPad Mini both.
