Android 4.4.2 KitKat upgrade: HTC One, One Max, and One Mini update on January-February

It is being reported that very soon a number of devices of the HTC One series will be receiving the latest Android OS version by Google, Android 4.4 KitKat.

LlabTooFeR, Twitter leakstar and a contributor to XDA, announced via Twitter that HTC One, which currently runs the Android 4.3 Jelly Bean OS, will be receiving the Android 4.4.2 KitKat very soon.

The exact date is not specified but it will be between January and February. Other devices that will be receiving the update include the dual-SIM variant of the HTC One, the One Max and the One Mini.

LlabTooFer’s tweet read, “All new devices such as One, One DualSIM, One Max, One mini will get 4.4.2 update in time frame January-February…”

However, the important thing here is that this January-February timeframe for the update is for European countries only.

Rest of the regions are going to receive the update a few weeks later. Disappointingly, the HTC One X, which currently runs the slightly older 4.4.2 Android OS, is not going to receive the KitKat update as 18 months have already been completed since its launch.

Besides coding for the devices based on the Tegra chipset is a lot harder than the devices powered by the Qualcomm chipset.

In another twitter LlabTooFer stated, “18 months have passed for this device and developing for Tegra processor is harder than for Qualcomm.”

Rumors say that HTC is not going to include the HTC Sense 6 UI in the upgrade to Android 4.4.2. It is expected that the latest UI will arrive on HTC devices sometime late in autumn.
