A statewide Amber Alert was issued on Wednesday in Oregon for two missing children – Hannah and Ethan, following the alleged abduction of the two by James DiMaggio.
The Oregon state police found the body of their mother, Christina Anderson, in James’s burned down house and hence suspected that James might have kidnapped the two children.
The Police said that the alert was broadcast after a vehicle, wanted in connection with the case, was seen on Wednesday afternoon. The children were reported missing by their grandparents on Sunday.
Karen Dalton, San Diego’s Country Superior Court spokeswoman, said that a judge has signed off on a $1 million bond for DiMaggio’s arrest. The partially burnt remains consistent with those of 8 years old boy were also found at his house. Police are waiting for the DNA test report to confirm whether the remains are of the kidnapped boy.
Ethan’s father made a public plea to the suspect to release Hannah and Ethan. DiMaggio was described as a friend of the kid’s mother by the authorities. Though he was the sole owner of the burned house, but was facing some financial problems recently.
Authorities are looking for every clue available. They believe that either Texas or Canada may have been the destinations he was heading to.
The information was distributed to every resident’s cell phone through Wireless Emergency Alert program after the California authorities issued the Amber Alert. The sheriff’s office has released several photos of DiMaggio.
