7-inch HP Mesquite android tablet price and specs review

As Intel had promised earlier that it will roll out $100 tablets in 2013 holiday season, but this Black Friday the chip maker will out-do itself with a little help from HP and Wal-Mart.

The HP Mesquite 7-inch Android tablet will sell for just $89 this week on Black Friday, exclusively at Wal-Mart.

It is very clear that HP is in quite a hurry to get out an affordable tablet that will try to attract budget conscious buyers this Friday.

The 7-inch Mesquite tablet has very low price and somewhat low specifications too. The HP Mesquite laptop will be provided with a 1.6 GHz Intel Atom processor and 1GB RAM.

The 7-inch screen will have 1024×600 resolutions with a virtual keyboard. The specifications will be able to handle the Android 4.1 OS running on it.

The battery gives up to five hours of run time on full charge and the tablet is provided with 8GB internal memory which is expandable using an external SD card.

It has support for 802.11 b/g/n Wi-Fi but no options for 3G. It even has a VGA camera and a microphone for making video calls. The HP Mesquite is quite a strong option for buyers with a low budget and for younger kids too.

It is still not clear if Wal-Mart will sell these tablets at a loss, though based on the device’s low end specifications there is a very good chance that the mega retailer is still turning a profit.
