On Friday, Jay Z ended “Grammy Nominations Concert Live” event with thumbs up in nine categories, which made him lead the pack for the 56th Grammy Awards. The Concert will air on 26th of next month.
Kendrick Lamar, Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, Pharrell Williams and Justin Timberlake were the ones up for seven nominations each.
Artists who earned four nominations each were Daft Punk, Lorde, Bruno Mars, Kacey Musgraves and Taylor Swift, whereas on the other hand five nominations were snagged by Drake and Bob Ludwig.
Male artists dominated the nominees for the 2014 awards for the second consecutive year, whereas Musgraves and Swift led the female artists with four nominations each.
Jay Z, who is an experienced rapper, on the basis of his latest12th studio album named as Magna Carta Holy Grail, came out to be on the top position.
The American rapper has sold around one million copies of the album, which were purchased for $5 each by Samsung, to one million Samsung Galaxy owners, who had to download an app to get a copy of the original song.
The marketing stunt influenced the Recording Industry Association of America to “modernize” its 55-year-old certification process to immediately include digital sales.
The albums which were to suffice the eligibility criteria for nominations, the recordings had to be released between Oct. 1, 2012, and Sept. 30, 2013 for them. The songs which got ignored were Miley Cyrus’s “Wrecking Ball” and “We Can’t Stop”, whereas, the Bangerz was not included in snubbed list.
