The Edge generation started back in 2007 featuring a mid-sized crossover utility vehicle. Recently Ford previewed the new Edge at the 2013 Los Angeles Auto Show. The five-passenger vehicle features a sleeker design than the current model in the market.
The drive and experience of the Ford Edge makes it the best handling model. It is packed with a turbocharged four-cylinder engine along with two V-6s. Edge’s engine runs through a six-speed automatic transmission.
The current Ford Edge is a midsize crossover SUV available in four trims: SE, SEL, Limited and Sport. The limited AWD (all wheel drive) model has additional features like a back up camera synchronized with the large vibrant touch screen interface and thick leather seats.
If you spend a little more you get additional options such as 20 inch chrome wheels in this model, the huge panoramic sun roof that stretches from the front all the way to the back seats as well as xenon headlights.
Design and interior wise, the Ford Edge is the best looking car in this price segment. It also has PUSH features from MS sync, so if you subscribe, you can get traffic and weather alerts. It’s a fun car to drive.
The Ford Edge has a nice size trunk and the back seats can be folded flat quickly and easily with a flick of a wrist to increase the storage capacity.
Ford said the 2015 Edge will feature automated driving technologies like the self-parking and obstacle avoiding system, new EcoBoost engines and active grille shutters for better fuel efficiency.
So if you are in market for a mid-sized SUV that is loaded with technology and style, the Ford Edge definitely stands a chance. The Blue Oval’s next-generation mid-size crossover SUV will be launched sometime next year in the United States, Europe, China and South America.
