According to the recent reports, the 2014 Chevrolet Silverado, has been awarded as the best truck of the year. The award has been awarded by a panel of qualified fleet managers, which represents all industry segments and fleet sizes.
Sherb Brown, who is the vice president and group publisher for Bobit Business Media’s FleetGroup said in a statement that “We are proud to recognize the Chevrolet Silverado 1500 with the 2013 Fleet Truck of the Year award”.
Explaining that how, the panel decides the awardee he stated that “The Truck of the Year award is voted on every year by fleet managers, making this a real honor for vehicle manufacturers that serve this professional segment.”
Based on the recent reports, in this year’s competition, the all-new 2014 Silverado 1500 received the most votes out of 36 trucks, which were eligible for evaluation.
The Silverado received most votes because it is powered by EcoTec3 4.3 liter V6 engine, which boasts a best in class towing capacity of 7, 600 lbs and the highest available payload rating of 2,108 lbs.
The fuel efficiency of the available 5.3 liter V8 is also very impressive, whereas some of the features such as the EZ Lift and Lower tailgate and CornerStep bumper set it apart from the competition.
Ed Peper, U.S. vice president of GM Fleet and Commercial Sales told Automotive Fleet Magazine said in a statement made to one of the leading newspaper that “It was our goal to provide our customers with a truck that can help them do the tough jobs and we feel that we’ve met that goal. The Silverado 1500 is a great truck.”
